Sometime in the 1960s, hundreds of Japanese Cherry Trees were planted throughout the new community of Lexington Park, many of them around the uniquely modern homes built in the early 40’s and nicknamed “The Flattops.” Estimates say there are at least 200 such trees remaining, and many more hardwoods, but most are inaccessible to the casual eye because the roads have long been closed to automobile traffic. That old neighborhood has now been designated an “Arts Park” and Ascension and our community partners are joining together to support its renewal. So on Sunday afternoon, April 8, join your friends from Ascension and give some support to our town, Lexington Park, at the 2nd Annual Lexington Park Arts Park Cherry Blossom Festival! Fr. Greg will be there, and is making plans to represent Ascension at a table — maybe with some handouts and even some goodies. Talk with him today or this Sunday if you’d be interested in joining the celebration and representing our church in our community.
